UK Bound: Rhodes Scholarship Faculty & Staff Info Session

Rhodes Trust representatives Juan Sepúlveda and Simone Askew will provide faculty and staff with essential information on identifying, mentoring and supporting potential Rhodes Scholarship candidates from the University of Houston.
Learn about the Rhodes Scholarship selection criteria, application process and how to effectively guide students through competitive international fellowship applications.
This session is designed for staff, advisors and faculty who work with high-achieving students interested in pursuing prestigious international opportunities. Attendees will gain valuable insights on how to strengthen institutional support for students applying to the Rhodes and similar scholarship programs.
Meet the Speakers:

Juan Sepúlveda serves as the District 8 Secretary for the Rhodes Trust and is the Ron Calgaard Distinguished Professor of Practice in Political Science at Trinity University. He is the third Latino ever awarded a Rhodes Scholarship.

Simone Askew is an Assistant American Secretary for the Rhodes Trust and a U.S. Army captain who made history as the first African American woman to serve as First Captain at West Point. She studied Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
