Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The University's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, Deer Oaks EAP Services , offers you and your dependents three free counseling sessions per issue per year. Counseling and a variety of other employee support services are available to all UH benefits-eligible employees and their dependents. EAP services are confidential and offered at no cost, both virtually and in-person in different locations throughout the Houston area.
Offered via the EAP intake process, Deer Oaks also provides the research-based Aware Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program to help you learn to meaningfully engage in the present moment. A specially trained Aware specialist will guide you through a step-by-step process to learn the skills you need to reduce stress, emphasize the present, establish greater mind-body balance and increase overall well-being.
BCBSTX HealthSelect Mental Health Resources
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, the University’s health insurance provider, offers benefits-eligible employees and their covered dependents robust mental health care benefits including in-person and tele-health counseling visits. Coverage includes care for various concerns, such as alcohol and drug use issues, anger management, anxiety, depression, stress, suicidal thinking and more. No-cost mental health virtual visits through Doctor On Demand ® and MDLIVE ® are also available.
Learn to Live Digital Mental Health Service
Learn to Live is a no-cost, online and on-demand, self-paced mental health service grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. Coach-supported programs use videos and interactive lessons to help participants overcome depression, insomnia, stress, anxiety, substance use and more and are accessible via desktop, tablet or mobile device. Eligible BCBSTX medical plan members can also work with a Learn to Live Coach via phone, text or email. Learn more and enroll here.

iConnectYou is a free app that connects UH employees with Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program (EAP) professionals for counseling and work-life support and resources. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, and register with the UH passcode 230179.
Learn to Live
Go online to create your free Learn to Live account or visit the App Store or Google Play to download the app to register. When doing so, you can also allow access to any eligible dependents.
CAPS: “Let’s Talk”
The University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): “Let’s Talk” program provides daily, easy access to informal confidential consultations with CAPS therapists. Consultations are free of charge, and no appointment or paperwork is needed. Let’s Talk is offered multiple times per week.
