Voice Messaging Update
From 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 until 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, Information Technology will be updating the voice messaging system for customers who use ROLM telephones. Since ROLM telephones make up the majority of the campus telephone system, there's a good chance either you have one of these phones or you call someone who does.

We scheduled this update to happen overnight on a weekend in order to minimize the impact on our customers. However, should you need to use your ROLM telephone during the update, you will be able to make and receive telephone calls but you will not be able to access your existing voice messages and callers will be unable to leave messages.
This update is necessary to maintain the voice messaging system and to allow for future improvements. It will not change personal greetings or other settings.
Changes to the Voice Messaging System
After the update, there will be two changes to your voice messaging system:
- Voice messaging distribution lists
The first change enables you to send messages to a distribution list of your choosing. To use this feature:- Call the voice messaging system at 713-743-8400 and login
- Dial 4 to select the Personal Configuration menu
- Dial 6 to select the Manage Personal Lists menu
- Additional voice messaging security
The second change will only be noticeable if you enter an incorrect password when you call the voice messaging system. For security reasons, if you enter an incorrect password, you will have to re-enter both your mailbox number and your password.
Based on our pilot and the successful first phase of this update, we do not anticipate any issues for our customers. We have already successfully migrated Cisco IP Phone customers to the new voice messaging system.
If you experience any issues with voice messaging after the update, please call us at 713-743-1411.
