Location: Fertitta Center, 3422 Cullen Blvd

Stage Pass

In order for your name to be read, you must have a Stage Pass with your name, phonetic pronunciation (if needed), and contact information for photos after the ceremony. These will be sent via email to bachelor’s and master’s candidates starting May 1. Doctoral candidates will obtain their stage pass during check-in on the day of commencement.

The pass must be printed on white, letter-sized copy paper (8.5” x 11”). If you cannot print the pass, separate instructions will be provided by email to request to pick up your pass from NSM Academic Affairs.

Arrival Time for Students

NOTE: Any bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates that are not able to obtain a Stage Pass prior to May 14 must begin arriving at 5:15 PM. Bring your student ID to the check-in.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Candidates - Biology and Biochemistry: Begin arriving at 5:30 PM
  • Bachelor’s Degree Candidates - Computer Science: Begin arriving at 5:40 PM
  • Bachelor’s Degree Candidates - All Other Majors: Begin arriving at 5:50 PM
  • Master’s and Doctoral Degree Candidates: Begin arriving at 5:45 PM

Graduate check-in will be at the UH Athletics/Alumni Center on Cullen Blvd. Only graduating students will be allowed in the building for line-up. We will begin preparing for the processional at 6:15 PM. Graduates arriving after that time may not be able to participate.

What to Bring

  • Enter the building dressed in your regalia (cap and gown).
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Candidates: Bring your printed Stage Pass with you to the ceremony. An image on your phone does not take the place of the actual printed page. These will be emailed starting May 1.
  • Do not bring extra items with you; there will be no storage area for your posessions.
  • Follow the guidelines provided in the Fertitta Center clear bag policy.

Professional Photograhy

Flash Photography will take your photo as you cross the stage and after exit the stage. They will contact you after the ceremony with proofs of photos that can be purchased.

Cap & Gown

Graduates are required to wear regalia (cap and gown) to commencement. The deadline to order regalia was April 15. You will need to visit the UH Campus Store in Student Center South to order regalia after this date.

Regalia ordered during Grad Fair can be picked up during Graduation Celebration at the UH Campus Store April 30, 10 AM – 3 PM.

Tickets will be required for guests. Children two years old and younger do not need a ticket. Graduates participating in the ceremony do not need a ticket.

Tickets will be added to graduating students’ UH Student Ticketing Account starting April 6. Each graduate will receive six (6) electronic, general admission tickets. Tickets are ceremony-specific and may only be used for the ceremony displayed on the ticket.

All commencement tickets are complimentary, and any unused tickets should be returned to the commencement ticket pool. The selling of commencement tickets is not condoned and constitutes a violation of the Student Code of Conduct.

Commencement Guest Ticket Lottery

The availability of extra tickets is not guaranteed and depends on the number of graduates and the amount of returned or unclaimed tickets; please plan accordingly. Email inquiries will not be considered for additional tickets.

Students interested in entering the commencement guest ticket lottery to receive additional tickets can submit a request for additional tickets. The commencement lottery will be open to submit requests Monday, April 13, 10 AM, through Saturday, April 18, 11:59 PM (Central).

Commencement Guest Ticket Lottery Request

Commencement lottery results will be emailed by end of day, Friday, April 24. If selected, your additional tickets will be available for pickup at the Graduation Celebration on April 30, 10 AM – 3 PM, at the UH Campus Store in Student Center South, 4455 University Dr. #130.

Additional pick-up dates and times are available at the UH Ticket Office at TDECU Stadium:

  • May 4–8, 9 AM – 7 PM
  • May 9, 9 AM – 2 PM

Transferring Tickets

You may transfer tickets to another guest(s) by following these steps:

  1. Log in to UHCougars.com/MyAccount.
  2. From the My Tickets page, select the event to access your tickets.
  3. Select Transfer.
  4. Check the box next to the ticket(s) you would like to transfer.
  5. Enter the mobile number or email address of the person you would like to receive the tickets.
  6. Review the transfer and select Transfer Tickets at the bottom of the screen.

Commencement Ticket Giveback Program

Do you not plan on attending commencement? Do you not need all six (6) commencement tickets? Help your fellow graduates and giveback any unused tickets to the ticketing pool! Once you submit your form to give back tickets, they will be removed from your UH Ticketing account.

Arrival Time for Guests

Doors to Fertitta Center will open at 6 PM, one hour prior to the start of Commencement. Tickets are required for entry. Please follow the clear bag policy guidelines.
