New This Fall in Parking and Transportation
Welcome back, Coogs!
With the fall semester officially under way, we wanted to bring to your attention some changes in our programs and services.
Managing the Vehicles on Your Account and Permit
Last year, we introduced virtual parking permits to campus. By doing so, it meant there would no longer be plastic placards to hang from the rearview mirror.
When we implemented the virtual permit program, we set the number of vehicles that could be active on the permit at one. The decision was based on how things worked with physical permits -- you could only use your placard in one car at a time. This was just an extension of that.
This year, to help make it easier on students, faculty and staff, we have increased the number of "active" vehicles allowed on your permit. Students can now have three, and faculty/staff five.
Everyone should log in to their myParking Account and check the vehicles that are on their account and see which ones are "active" on their permit. The process for doing so has changed. Follow these steps:
- Log in to AccessUH
- Go to your myParking account
- Click “Manage Permit Vehicles”
- Click on the permit number of your active parking permit
- Scroll down and click “Add Vehicles to Permit”
- You will see a list of active vehicles on your parking account
- Check the box of the vehicle to add to the permit
- Click “Add the Selected Vehicle”
- If vehicle to add to permit is not on the list, click “Add a New Vehicle,” then fill in the vehicle details and click “Next”
If there is a vehicle on your account that you no longer own or drive, you can now remove it yourself (if there are any outstanding citations associated with the vehicle, it will not be able to be removed). Just follow these steps:
- Log in to AccessUH
- Go to your myParking account
- Click "Vehicles" at the top of the page
- Click on the license plate number of the vehicle to remove
- Scroll down and click "Delete"
- Click "OK" when asked if you are sure you want to delete the
vehicle.
Canceling Your Parking Permit
Valid University of Houston parking permits can be canceled at any time. However, not all permits can be canceled for a prorated refund. The following permit types are non-refundable after the 12th class day of the semester:
- All semester permits
- Tuesday-Thursday and Monday-Wednesday-Friday permits
- Evening-Weekend
- Motorcycle
We have made it easy for you to cancel your own permit. You no longer have to email us to do it. Just follow these steps:
- Log in to AccessUH
- Go to your myParking account
- Click "Cancel Parking Permit" button
- Click on the permit number of the permit to be canceled
- Scroll to bottom of page and click "Return Permit"
- Scroll to bottom of page and click "Submit" button
New Shuttles Buses and Routes
You may have noticed the new Cougar Line shuttle buses driving around campus. These buses are smaller in size than what we previously used, and there is a very good reason for that. The smaller buses allow us to make turns on campus streets much easier. There are some locations on campus where it was difficult to make the tight turns. There were even some areas we could not drive to because the buses were too big.
The larger buses are still being used, for only for the Sugar Land route.
Along with the new buses, we have reorganized the campus shuttle routes:
North Route
Stops include Fleming, PGH, MSM, Entrance 18, Elgin-East, Law-East, Bauer-South, Student Center, CPH/Library, UH Technology Bridge, Bauer-North, Law-West, Elgin-West. Zone A, Alumni Center.

Student Center, CPH/Library, Rec Center-South, Cougar Village/Moody Towers, DART Center, Zone D, College of Medicine, Rec Center-North
