Enrollment Ready! (Current Students)
Follow these 6 steps now to have a successful enrollment experience—be Enrollment Ready!
Here is a video overview of the Enrollment Ready! steps.
- Resolve any enrollment holds.
- Check to ensure that you do not have any holds preventing enrollment. Log into your myUH account > Self Service> Tasks section.
- For TSI holds:
- If you are pursuing developmental coursework, the TSI enrollment hold has been reapplied to your account since you are not yet TSI complete. Not to worry—just contact your advisor to release your hold for your second waiver so that you can enroll in next term coursework. Once you pass your course, your requirement will be completed.
- If you are beyond your second waiver or are not enrolled in developmental coursework, you will need to discuss your enrollment options with your academic advisor. If you have not yet taken the TSI Assessment, you must do this as a next step. See the UH TSI page for more information. If you do not pas discuss your enrollment options with your academic advisor.
- For financial holds:
- For questions about financial aid, you can reach the UH Scholarships and Financial Aid office
- For questions about billing, you can reach the Office of Student Business Services
- For other enrollment holds: In your myUH account under “Holds,” click “Details” to understand the requirement and the department to contact. Contact your Academic Advisor for guidance.
-
Know your degree requirements.
- Review your degree requirements on your 4-year Academic Map for your major, or any other checklists or guides your college has provided you.
- Look up each course you plan to take in the UH Undergraduate Catalog to be sure that you have met the prerequisite requirements.
- Plan your courses.
- Use your 4-year Academic Map for your major, or any other checklists or guides your college has provided you, to make a list of the next courses you need.
- If you already have credit for some required courses, such as through dual credit or test credit, you'll just look to your next semester on your Academic Map and replace courses for which you already have credit with courses listed in later terms so that you can have a full-time enrollment of 15 hours each term.
- Confirm your course selection with your Academic Advisor.
- Schedule an advising appointment through the Navigate app (Appointments > Academic Advising > your major) and look for available appointment times.
- Some colleges will email you a special appointment invitation – click the link in that message to make an appointment.
- If you don't see any available appointments, continue checking back. In Navigate, time slots for advising offices open for the next 30 days on a rolling basis, with a new day added at the end of that range every day beginning at midnight.
- Confirm your assigned Enrollment Date (myUH Self Service > Manage Classes > Course Planning > My Enrollment Periods)
- IMPORTANT: Give yourself the best chance of finding open class sessions! Don't wait to enroll! You might not be able to get an advising appointment before your enrollment date/time. That’s ok! Schedule an appointment with your advisor for the first available date. While you are waiting for your advising appointment, continue forward to #5 Build your schedule and #6 Enroll in courses. Plan to enroll in courses within 24 hours of your enrollment date. You will have greater course availability if you enroll sooner rather than later. Then, when you meet with your advisor, you can confirm your enrollment choices or add/drop courses as needed.
- Build your schedule.
- Use the Schedule Builder in your Student Self Service to map out your best schedule - block out days and times you can't attend class, and review multiple options to find your most workable schedule. Favorite the schedules that will work.

- Enroll in courses within 24 hours of your enrollment date. You will have greater course availability if you enroll sooner rather than later.
- Review your planned and scheduled courses to make sure all courses are still available.
- Go back to your the Schedule Builder in your Student Self Service and locate your favorite schedule. Check the checkbox next to each of the classes you would like to enroll in, click "Enroll," and click "Validate" to make sure you are eligible for each course.
- Be patient with this process – you may be able to enroll in some of the sections you chose right away, but you may find that other sections are full. This is all completely normal! Have a list of backup sections and courses in case your first choices are full.
- Remember: you can make any changes you like to your schedule all the way until the new semester begins. Get enrolled in all of the classes you can, as soon as you can, and then go back to make changes.
- Payment for next semester courses is not due until right before that semester begins, so enroll now!
