Kimberly Meyer to Receive Award for Memoir/Autobiography from ASJA
Kimberly Meyer was announced recipient of an annual writing award from The American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) for her work The Book of Wanderings, published in 2015 by Little, Brown, for best Memoir/Autobiography. The annual awards honor the outstanding nonfiction work produced on a freelance basis by independent writers during the past year.
Kimberly Meyer is a member of ASJA and a graduate of the University of Houston Creative Writing Program. The Book of Wanderings recalls the journey she and her eldest daughter made by retracing a medieval pilgrimage route to the Holy Land and St Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai Desert in the summer after the Arab Spring. “We are delighted to honor Kimberly Meyer for her outstanding work this year,” said ASJA President Randy Dotinga.“ Journalists like Kimberly deserve recognition from their peers for their remarkable articles and books. ASJA has been honoring exemplary nonfiction writing for more than 60 years.”
Meyer will receive the award at the ASJA Awards Reception on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Roosevelt Hotel. The ceremony is part of ASJA 2016: Change. Challenge.
