Admission Requirements for Traditional BSN
Only active UH students can apply to the Traditional BSN.
All applicants are required to meet the following requirements:
- Started UH as a freshman student.*
- A minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Completed or are enrolled to complete the required Traditional BSN courses found on the Course Requirement Checklist.
- Completed 45 semester credit hours (SCH) toward the Traditional BSN degree plan at UH. (AP/IB/Dual Credit can be used to help fulfill the 45 SCH requirement.)
- Completed all science courses found on the Course Requirement Checklist with a B (BIOL 2302/2102) or B- or higher.
- Use 15 credit hours or less of transfer coursework to fulfill the Traditional BSN requirements. (AP/IB/Dual Credit is NOT considered transfer credit since students earned the credit while in high school. The Gessner College of Nursing considers “transfer credit” as any college credit earned AFTER high school graduation.)
- Attempted required Traditional BSN courses found on the Course Requirement Checklist no more than twice. Only the first two attempts will be considered. Grade of W are not counted as attempts.
- Submitted all SAT/ACT scores to UH. Starting Fall 2023, all students admitted to the Traditional BSN Track MUST have SAT/ACT scores on file at UH.
- Completed ATI TEAS exam. Only the first two attempts will be considered.
*Transfer students who meet specific requirements are allowed to apply. Transfer students must contact a Gessner College of Nursing academic advisor to see if they are eligible to apply to the Traditional BSN Track.
Please note that applications are not carried forward to the next deadline date and there are no waiting lists.
