Curriculum and Instruction - Learning, Design, and Technology (M.Ed.)

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction – Learning, Design, and Technology prepares graduates to lead instructional technology innovation in academic, military, community, and corporate settings.

In this program, students learn to use a diverse range of technologies to communicate and collaborate with others; design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences using innovative tools and resources to maximize learning; and strategically plan for technology use, implementation and dissemination in educational practice. Students work individually and collaboratively with faculty and fellow students to explore ways that technology can support teaching, learning and training through project-based learning and hands-on experiences.

Graduates assume roles as professionals with expertise in the innovative and creative ways that technology can support and enhance learning. The program provides excellent preparation for instructional technology-related careers, including technology specialists, instructional designers, learning technologies managers, curriculum designers, technology coordinators, learning management specialists, and technology leaders.

Master’s students may concurrently earn one or more Graduate Certificates as part of their degree plan. Certificate options include Designing and Developing Educational Graphics, Designing and Developing Educational Multimedia, and Online Teaching and Learning. Certified K-12 teachers may also use certain courses for the Master Technology Teacher certification. Please click here for more information about these certificates.

The Master's program culminates in a capstone project. Students complete some aspects of the project during coursework and continue to build on it outside of class. Students then present their projects to the Learning, Design, and Technology faculty at the end of their program.
