Cybersecurity (M.S.)

The hybrid Master of Science in Cybersecurity degree prepares technology professionals to evaluate the security requirements of information and network systems, and to oversee the implementation and upkeep of effective security solutions. University of Houston’s cybersecurity programs, recognized by the NSA and DHS as a Center of Academic Excellence since 2007, now also hold a research designation, emphasizing their commitment to advancing cybersecurity education and research.

As cybersecurity threats evolve, roles like CSOs and CISOs expand, while new positions such as malware analysts and incident responders emerge, all requiring broader knowledge and skills. An ISACA survey found 46% of security professionals concerned about technical skills gaps, emphasizing the need for a strategic approach to skill advancement to lead effectively in this dynamic field.
