College Welcomes Reese, Zhong to 2nd Class of Academic Pharmacy Fellows
July 15 — UH College of Pharmacy recently welcomed its second cohort of Academic Pharmacy Fellows, Rosalyn Reese, Pharm.D., and Celine Zhong, Pharm.D., who will assist with a range of teaching activities, preceptorship, and scholarship and research in the college's Pharm.D. degree curriculum.
Reese earned her Pharm.D. from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and recently completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia, Mo. As a resident, Rosalyn sought out multiple precepting and teaching opportunities, including guest lecturing on women’s health for the physician assistant program at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. Her clinical interest areas include infectious diseases, cardiology, internal medicine, and pediatrics.
Zhong's interest in pharmacy began when the post-stroke care of her grandfather was compromised due to language barriers that led to miscommunication within his medical management, which fueled her desire to serve as a liaison between her family members and healthcare professionals and ultimately her pursuit of a pharmacy career.
She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston and completed a PGY1 residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston. During her time at Northeastern, Zhong was the recipient of the Full-Tuition Dean Merit Scholarship and the University’s Provost Research Award, which granted full funding for her clinical toxicology and pharmacokinetic research.
Zhong served as a guest lecturer in UTMB Health’s Physician Assistant Program and as Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences School of Pharmacy as well as serving as co-preceptor to fourth year pharmacy students on clinical experiential rotations. Additionally, Zhong is a new practitioner mentor through the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Her practice interests include internal medicine and general pediatrics.
