AMCP Chapter President-elect King Receives Appointment to National Student Pharmacist Committee
March 30 — UH College of Pharmacy Pharm.D. student Alyza King has been appointed to serve on the national Student Pharmacist Committee of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy.
King was appointed to the one-year term March 27 during the 2019 AMCP Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy Annual Meeting in San Diego, Calif., which she attended thanks to a travel award from the Southwest Chapter of AMCP.
Currently serving as 2018-19 president-elect of the UHCOP AMCP Chapter, King is one of 15 students from chapters across the country appointed to the committee. According to the AMCP website, the committee's mission is "to ensure Academy awareness of issues, policies, programs and services that impact student pharmacists as well as provide oversight and guidance to the AMCP Student Chapter program."
"What really motivated me to pursue the position was to help be a voice of the students of our organization," King said. "My goal was to improve the current resources offered and create new resources to assist in the development of local student organizations. By doing this, we can also help inspire new student organizations at other universities and help increase exposure of the non-traditional pharmacy path of managed care."
