Skeletal Muscle Researcher Yefei Wen Joins Pharmacological & Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculty
August 10 — UHCOP recently welcomed Yefei Wen, DVM, Ph.D., as a research assistant professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Wen earned his DVM in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine from Northwest University for Nationalities in Gansu, China; master's degree in Clinical Veterinary from Northwest A&F University in Shaanxi, China; and Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences in Beijing, China. Wen also completed postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center and Purdue University.
Wen's research interests include mechanisms of skeletal muscular regeneration; regulation of skeletal muscle atrophy and hypertrophy; diabetes and nutrients metabolism in skeletal muscle; muscle stem cells and tissue engineering; and gametogenesis, embryogenesis, and fetal development.
Wen has authored/coauthored research papers in such peer-reviewed journals as the Journal of Molecular Cell Biology, Theranostics, Nature Communications, Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, and PLoS One.
