College Welcomes Infectious Diseases Researcher Taryn A. Eubank to Department of Pharmacy Practice and Translational Research
Nov. 21 — Infectious diseases researcher Taryn A. Eubank, Pharm.D., BCIDP, 2021-23 alumna of the T32 Texas Medical Center Training Program in Antimicrobial Resistance (TPAMR), has been appointed as a research assistant professor in the college’s Department of Pharmacy Practice and Translational Research.
Graduating magna cum laude, Eubank earned her Pharm.D. degree at Harding University College of Pharmacy in Searcy, Ark. She completed two residencies at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, with her first year as a pharmacy practice resident and second year as an infectious diseases resident. While at Houston Methodist Hospital, Eubank was recognized as chief pharmacy resident and received the 2021 Houston Methodist Humanitas Award for her dedication and service to patients.

Eubank’s presentation, "Vancomycin non-susceptibility in Clostridioides difficile is associated with lower rates of 30- and 90-day sustained clinical response," at the 25th Annual Antimicrobial Stewardship Meeting of the Making A Difference In Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID) organization May 10-13 in Orlando, Fla., was awarded top trainee abstract. In April, she received an travel grant to present her project, "Reduced vancomycin susceptibility in Clostridioides difficile is associated with lower rates of sustained clinical response," at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) in Copenhagen, Denmark. In addition, Eubank earned an IDWeek 2022 Trainee Abstract Travel Award for her presentation, "A molecular epidemiological exploration of reduced vancomycin susceptibility in Clostridioides difficile," Oct. 19-22 in Washington, D.C.
Her primary research interests include antimicrobial resistance, the gut microbiome and the gut resistome. Eubank has authored/co-authored eight original research articles, case reports and reviews, and selected abstracts in such peer-reviewed journals as Pharmacoepidemiology, Lancet Respiratory Medicine, the American Journal of Pathology, and Clinical Infectious Diseases.
