Vascular Diseases Researcher Yunting Wang Joins College's PPS Department Faculty Ranks
Sept. 5 — The University of Houston College of Pharmacy recently welcomed Yunting Wang, Ph.D., to the Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty as a research assistant professor of pharmacology.
Wang’s research focuses on investigating the role of lysosomal function in vascular resident cell dysfunction and its contribution to the pathophysiological mechanisms of various macrovascular and microvascular diseases.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in traditional Chinese medicine from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine in Changsha, China, and both a master’s degree in medicine degree in orthopedics of traditional Chinese medicine and a Ph.D. in Chinese pharmacology from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in Guangzhou, China. He was recognized as Outstanding Graduate Student and Outstanding Master’s Student while at Guangzhou.
Wang is no stranger to UHCOP, having been a visiting research scholar from 2018 to 2020, when he transitioned to postdoctoral fellow status. During this time, Wang provided research mentorship to Pharm.D. students and undergraduate students.
Wang has authored or coauthored nearly 30 peer-reviewed original research papers and reviews as well as abstracts in such journals as Cell Death & Disease, the American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology, Frontiers in Pharmacology, and Frontiers in Bioscience.
He serves as a journal reviewer for such publications as Atherosclerosis; Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity; Frontiers in Pharmacology; Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences; Frontiers in Genetics, section RNA; Mediators of Inflammation; Precision Medicine Research; BioMed Research International; International Immunopharmacology; and Journal of Immunology Research.
