'Mr. Pharmacy' Gives Back
Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Gives $1,000 Gift to American Red Cross from "Mr. Pharmacy Pageant" Proceeds
With the help of fellow students, organizations and volunteers at UH College of Pharmacy, the Delta Delta Chapter of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity raised $1,000 for the Greater Houston Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The gift was the result of the fraternity's 5th Annual Mr. Pharmacy Pageant, which pits male representatives from each pharmacy organization and each class against each other in a video and talent competition to determine who will be crowned "Mr. Pharmacy."
The winner receives a cash prize, with the organization of which the student is representing receiving 10 percent of the proceeds and the remaining funds going to Kappa Psi's designated charity each year. The 2015 "Mr. Pharmacy" was David Yu, representing the Class of 2017, with Kappa Psi representative Steven Tang claiming the "Fan Favorite" runner-up title.
"The entire college gets involved, Kappa Psi volunteers, faculty and staff competition judges, and pharmacy and pre-pharmacy students coming out to watch and cheer," said UH Pharm.D. candidate James Roperes, one of the event organizers.
