NLA Fund Development Workshop Series
February 6, 2023
As part of their work toward becoming Certified Nonprofit Professionals through the David M. Underwood Chapter of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance at the University of Houston, the undergraduate and MSW students in the program are currently participating in our 7-week Fund Development Workshop Series.
Students, MSW and undergraduates enrolled in other UH degree programs, receive an in-depth introduction to a variety of topics related to fundraising, development, and the role of philanthropy in the nonprofit sector.
“The series is facilitated by staff from Dini Spheris, a Houston-based nonprofit fundraising consulting firm, and includes presenters representing different areas of focus in the nonprofit fundraising world and include alumni of the NLA program,” Director of Innovative Academic Programs and Partnerships, Lillian Aguirre Ortiz, MSW ’07 said.
The students who complete this series will also obtain knowledge and a skill set that may take years to get on the job. In addition, they are able to build up their professional networks.
“We work to tie the NLA into the GCSW’s mission to prepare diverse leaders in practice and research to address complex challenges and achieve sustainable social, racial, economic, and political justice, locally and globally, through exceptional education, innovative research, and meaningful community engagement,” Aguirre Ortiz said.
