University of Houston Readmitted Student Next Steps

Your success is our primary goal, and we look forward to you completing your educational journey at the University of Houston.

If you have just been placed on Academic Suspension, carefully review the readmission process, criteria, and deadlines, along with any information your college has sent you regarding college-specific suspension processes, so you can follow an informed path for your return.

If you have been away from UH for longer than 13 months, or you were placed on Academic Suspension, you will need to reapply to UH as a former student.

  • Carefully review the readmission process, criteria, and deadlines to make sure you are ready to reapply.
  • See the Readmission Student Application Guide to understand the readmission path that applies to your circumstances.
  • Depending on your academic standing, you may not be eligible to reapply to all majors. See the Undergraduate Catalog for major readmission criteria to understand your options.
  • Use the UH GPA calculator to review your GPA trajectory to ensure you clearly understand the hours and grades it will take you to reach good standing (2.0) or the GPA required for your desired major, if applicable.
  • You may choose to reapply to Exploratory Studies in order to work toward a later major change to another major. Readmission into Exploratory Studies is automatic for all former students. The timeline to prepare to change majors will depend on your academic profile and major goals. Your options to change majors, either back to your previous major or to any other major with additional admissions requirements, will be limited based on the number of hours you have completed, the specific course grades you have earned, and your UH cumulative GPA. It may not be possible to change to certain majors.

If you have already received your readmission acceptance decision, review your assigned college readmission information below to understand your next steps for advising and enrollment.

If you have any questions about the readmission process, please contact the UH Admissions office at admissions@uh.edu

We wish you the very best as you work to complete your degree at the University of Houston!
