Graduation Checklist
Step 1: Meet Eligibility Requirements
- Undergraduate Requirements:
- Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Degree candidates must meet with their undergraduate advisor to confirm all degree requirements are met.
- Students with last names A-L should contact Trang Phan ( tphan@central.uh.edu).
- Students with last names M-Z should contact Jenny Mutz ( jamutz@central.uh.edu).
- Graduate Requirements:
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Degree candidates must meet with Trang Phan (tphan@central.uh.edu) to confirm all degree requirements are met.
Step 2: Apply for Graduation
- Apply for graduation through your AccessUH portal under "myUH Self-Service."
- Regular filing ends March 3, 2025, and costs $25.
- Late filing ends March 31, 2025, and costs $50.
- Only students applying by March 3 will be included in the printed program.
Step 3: Update Your Contact Information
- Ensure your name, mailing address, email, and phone number in AccessUH are accurate.
- Diplomas will be mailed to the address listed in your student account.
Step 4: Order Your Cap and Gown
- Purchase regalia at the UH Campus Store starting March 3, 2025.
- Attend the Graduation Fair at the UH Campus Store on March 3 and 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Online orders from Herff Jones close on April 15, 2025.
Step 5: Stay Updated with Graduation Information
- UH will release new Grad Chronicle volumes on March 7, March 21, April 4, April 18, April 25, May 2, and May 6.
- Check your email and the UH Commencement website regularly.
Step 6: The Commencement Ceremony
- Graduates must check in at the E. Cullen Building Lobby at least one hour before the ceremony.
- Participation is expected unless otherwise noted in your application.
- Each graduate will receive six virtual tickets for guests.
Graduation FAQs
What is the Dress Code for Graduates?
Business casual or formal attire is acceptable. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as there may be walking and standing involved.
What About Parking?
Parking for commencement will be available in nearby UH parking garages and lots. Specific parking instructions will be provided closer to the ceremony. Be sure to review the UH Parking Map for guidance.
Do I Need to RSVP for Commencement?
Graduates must confirm their attendance for the ceremony when applying for graduation. Contact your advisor if your plans change after submitting your application.
Special Accommodations
If you or your guests need accessibility accommodations, please email commencement@uh.edu at least two weeks before the ceremony. Accessibility seating is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Celebration and Photos
- Grad Celebration: Attend the Grad Celebration Event on April 25, 2025, hosted by the University of Houston’s Office of Special Events and Protocols. Details will be shared via email.
