More than 30 years of industry experience, including serving as catering sales manager and convention services manager for the Westin Galleria & Westin Oaks Hotel in Houston and business travel sales manager for the Omni Ambassador East in Chicago; prior to joining the faculty in 2005, taught in the culinary department at The Art Institute of Houston and for The Art Institute Online's culinary and hotel and restaurant program; served as executive director of Gourmet Night from 2005 to 2017; serves as faculty advisor for the National Association of Catering and Events (NACE) University of Houston Student Chapter, which has become the largest student chapter in the nation under her leadership; won the 2018 National NACE Member of the Year Award for her work with the UH chapter, Houston Chapter, and others around the nation; earned the Donald Greenaway Award for Teaching Excellence for the 2008-2009 academic year; received the Distinguished Young Alumna Award from the Hilton College Alumni Association in 2006 and the Distinguished Faculty Award in 2017.
