An ethic of care to me means that you are committed to treating people with dignity, respect, encouragement, and support. Perhaps at times it’s even a step beyond that and includes nurturing and challenging... It’s a guiding principle that you hold close as you navigate your work and the many diverse situations that arise. I think it manifests this way: We react quickly and appropriately to issues and concerns. We anticipate their needs, we make sure we are fully understanding the issue(s), and we are giving them good information. At our best, people feel heard, valued, and cared about when we work with them, even when giving them difficult information.
