The Quad Residence Hall Arc Fault Current Interrupter (AFCI) Reset Procedure
- The AFCI is a protection device similar to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) and provides protection from potential electrical fires in residential buildings
- . In The Quad, there is an AFCI in 2 of the bedrooms in the 4 room suites. The AFCI provides protection to 2 adjacent bedrooms. Please locate the AFCI that protects your bedroom. There is also an AFCI in the common living area. Locate that device as well.
- When the AFCI trips, a student can reset the trip by pressing the reset button, as shown in the picture below, one time.
- If the reset button trips a second time within 15 minutes, a reset shall not be re-attempted and a Resident Assistant should be contacted so that the appropriate maintenance personnel can be contacted.
