Educational Technology and University Outreach (ETUO)

Educational Technology and University Outreach (ETUO) is responsible for Distance and Continuing Education, as well as Faculty Development and Instructional Support (FDIS).

ETUO works with academic colleges, faculty and other administrative units to coordinate course and program delivery, student support services, and to provide faculty development opportunities. The unit also works with colleges to develop and implement extension programs for domestic and international delivery. ETUO serves as a liaison with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Southern Regional Electronic Board on matters related to accurate reporting and maintenance of quality standards.

Faculty Development and Instructional Support (FDIS)

UH Faculty Development and Instructional Support promotes and supports faculty and programs using technology to enhance the learning experience in the classroom and in the community. Located in Room 54 Basement of UH M.D. Anderson Library, FDIS provides training in educational software applications such as Blackboard Learn, Wimba Classroom (a virtual classroom tool), Respondus (used to upload your entire exam into Blackboard) and Turnitin (a plagiarism-checking and online grading tool).

Teaching Innovation Program (TIP)

The Teaching Innovation Program (TIP) grant is an award opportunity for departments to develop and implement a plan for new and innovative approaches to teaching.
