Our Work & Grants
OUR WORK: COMMUNITY INVESTMENT
SUSTAIN Center
WE OFFER
Improvement of Mental Health Services
We prepare organizations and service providers to better understand and address the impact of mental health in the context of HIV care.
Creation of Trauma-Informed Care
We work with organizations to build capacity on how to respond empathetically to individuals dealing with past and/or present trauma.
Strategies to Address Substance Use
We provide capacity building to create and strengthen understanding, systems, and programs that focus on harm reduction and meet people where they are, as well as consider the impact of substance use, particularly opioid use, on HIV/AIDS.
Wellness Promotion
In partnership with healthcare and community organizations, we help start or improve programs that promote the overall well-being of people living with HIV in mind, body, and spirit.

There are multiple shared learning opportunities offered through the COMPASS Initiative. Please visit the COMPASS Initiative’s website for more information: http://www.gileadcompass.com/sharedlearning/.
Trainings
The COMPASS Initiative seeks to create long-term, sustainable change in leaders, organizations, and communities by supporting capacity building strategies that will strengthen the infrastructure and support the viability of organizations that serve those living with HIV/AIDS. Our unique community-centered trainings explore how systematic oppression, stigma, and racial, ethnic, and gender inequities impact the South. The four Coordinating Centers will provide individual consultations, and group trainings to facilitate individual or organizational change among organizations in the South. These trainings and consultations will focus on addressing the COMPASS Initiative focus areas including capacity building, stigma reduction, trauma-informed care, and well-being among people living with HIV.
