CLASS NEH Grant-Writing Workshop (November 2024 - April 2025)
CLASS is offering a grant-writing workshop to support faculty as they write and revise grant proposals for National Endowment for the Humanities fellowships. Organized by Lynn Voskuil (English) and running from November 2024 to April 2025, the workshop will provide a structured revision schedule and review experience using NEH evaluation criteria. Dr. Voskuil has been awarded several NEH fellowships and has served on multiple review panels; her guidance will include one-on-one commentary on proposal drafts and information about how NEH review panels work. What you learn in this workshop will translate to proposals for other granting organizations.
Submit a short application to be considered for participation in the CLASS NEH Grant-Writing Workshop by November 1, 2024. Space is limited to 15 participants.

Be Seen at CLASS: Research Impact and Research Repositories (April 19, 2023)
It can be overwhelming to make sense of all the systems, tools, terminology and scores floating around in discussions of research impact. In this workshop, University of Michigan Research Impact and Information Science Librarian Rebecca Welzenbach will address some basic definitions and contexts – including what we mean by the Journal Impact Factor (JIF), h-index and others – and some strengths and weaknesses of these metrics.
The webinar will also focus on a few key tasks you can do to set yourself up for success – such as registering an ORCID and claiming your Google Scholar Profile – to ensure that you and your work are accurately represented and findable on the Web and in scholarly research infrastructures. Regardless of your research discipline, you will leave this workshop with a concrete understanding of how your work fits into this picture and with the tools needed to get started.
Be Seen at CLASS: Strategies for Improving Research Visibility and Impact (April 14, 2023)
At our second-annual Be Seen workshop, you will learn new strategies for elevating the discoverability of your research and scholarship through resources that are immediately available to all. Speakers Andrea Malone and Taylor Davis-Van Atta from UH Libraries will emphasize strategies that pertain to:
- Curating your web presence and online scholarly profile
- Leveraging tools and platforms to showcase your scholarship online
- Identifying potential communication avenues

Advancing Your Idea

This will kick off the first session of the “ Key Topics in Research Development” series. The presentation is open to faculty and graduate students.
