The Graduate School, Office of the Provost, is pleased to announce a new online resource for master’s and doctoral students called DoctoralMastersNet. This online tool is designed to provide graduate students with valuable resources and support, available 24/7, at no cost to students.
DoctoralNet/MastersNet provides resources such as webinars, writing groups, video snippets, opt-ins and boxed sets. Topics in the following areas are covered:

UH Library
For many graduate students, research is an integral part of their graduate experience. The research component of a graduate degree involves literature review, planning, conducting, analyzing, and communicating research. If you are involved in research, there are many campus resources to support your work. The University of Houston has a world-class library that offers workshops and consultations to support your research. Competitive Travel Scholarships

Career Exploration and Preparation Resources
It is never too early to start thinking about what you will do after you finish your graduate degree. There are many resources available to guide you as you start to explore career options. Not sure where to start? Try some of these.
Individual Development Plan
An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a student-generated document that helps graduate students get started with planning, setting and achieving their goals related to graduate school milestones and career plans. The IDP framework is designed to be flexible and consists of the following elements: self-assessment, career exploration, goal-setting and implementation of the plan.
Graduate students can start the process using one of the following free online tools:

ImaginePhD
Job Simulations
InterSECT is an online platform that allows PhD-level scientists and humanists, to explore future career options. The goal is to provide true-to-life job simulation exercises available here. This project was recently highlighted in a Science article.

University Career Services provides workshops for graduate students, career fairs and individual consultations. Check out their graduate student resources and calendar.

Health and Wellness Resources
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
CAPS offers many different options for graduate students experiencing mental health issues.
Walk-in Hours:
CAPS has walk-in hours from 8:30-4:00 pm Monday through Friday. When you walk in, a CAPS counselor will meet with you, hear your concerns, and help determine what service is most likely to address your needs.
CoogsCARE : This new website contains information related to mental health resources, safety, wellness and academic support services. It is an excellent tool for the entire UH community.

If you are experiencing a crisis situation and need to speak with someone immediately, please contact CAPS at 713.743.5454 or walk into CAPS. If it is after business hours and you are in imminent crisis, please call 911 or CAPS at 713.743.5454 and you will be connected to the after-hours counselor.
