Purpose:
NRHH is a leadership-bases honorary comprised of exemplary residential students who value service and recognition. The purpose of this organization shall be to recognize those individuals who have demonstrated positive leadership and outstanding service to residence hall life at the University of Houston to serve as a stimulus for developing involvement, and to uphold the values of Service, and Recognition. Through these stated purposes, the NRHH strives to improve the quality of residence hall life on the University of Houston campus. This organization is a not for profit organization.Vision:
NRHH advocates for the interests and welfare of residence hall students provide opportunities for their personal growth and development and strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of university housing. NRHH also promotes student growth through many service initiatives.Mission:
As an honorary, NRHH provides a dynamic leadership experience by promoting service and recognition. Through this, the Laila Machado Chapter of NRHH offers our members diverse avenues to grow and succeed in the residence halls and as engaged members in their communities.

Who We Are:
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. NRHH strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing. It ensures the advancement of member chapters through resource sharing, programming, and leadership development opportunities to contribute and support the vision of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated.A Branch of NACURH, Inc.:
NRHH is a branch of NACURH, Inc. All member institutions of NACURH are eligible to host an NRHH Chapter on their campus. NRHH offers many services in conjunction with NACURH and its affiliates. The honorary leadership is made up of NACURH NRHH Board (NNB) with representation from each regional affiliate. As NACURH is NRHH’s parent organization, NRHH is intertwined with the NACURH corporate structure. As such, some NRHH matters are presented before the combined leadership of NACURH or the NACURH Board of Directors (NBD). The NACURH Associate for NRHH (NAN), a member of the NACURH Executive Team, serves as the director of NRHH and represents NRHH in all NACURH matters. The NAN oversees the NNB, the implementation of a NACURH-wide OTM program, among other things. Each of NACURH’s eight regional affiliates have a leadership structure that includes an Associate Director for NRHH (ADNRHH). Each ADNRHH is a voting member of the NNB and leads NRHH both within their respective region and as part of the NNB. Additionally, the NACURH Corporate Office has a representative that sits on the NNB to provide perspective.Symbols of NRHH:
The NRHH colors are blue and white. The blue symbolized loyalty: loyalty to purpose and idea. The white signifies a blank page: a page on which a student writes the successes and experiences that fill their days in the residence halls. The symbol for NRHH is that of a diamond surrounding the letters of the organization, and the three interconnected lines, the chain of leadership. The diamond, the world’s most precious gem, signifies the value and beauty one finds in the residence halls, it also signifies the value and beauty one finds in the residence halls experience.The first link of the chain represents caring. Leaders are people who care. They are concerned about themselves and others, and are committed to making things better. The second link signifies dedication. Part of a leader’s commitment is the dedication to cause which they display. Dedication is an important part of the involvement required to be truly effective. The third link represent participation. True leaders participate fully in their academic pursuits, their friendships, their activities, and their lives. Leaders don’t sit on the sidelines, but are competent team players. Together the unbroken chain symbolizes the membership of NRHH. As leaders we are interconnected as caring and dedicated participants in the community of our university.
