1980 – College admitted as full member of Texas Medical Center and TMC Campus building opens.

The college launches Brown Bag Medication Review program, designed to educate senior citizens with essential information about their medications. The program unites students and faculty with senior adult populations, providing students hands-on experience in interacting and counseling the senior adult/geriatric patient population on on their drug regimens.

Doyle Harrell named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

1981 - Quenton Newcomb named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

1982 – The Ph.D. in Pharmacology degree program is approved by UH Board of Regents and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The Institute for Drug Education and Research is established at UHCOP, with former faculty member Stuart Feldman, Ph.D., appointed as its inaugural director.

Sandra Evans Webb named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

1983 – Edward L. Baker, Jr. named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

1984 – Robert H. Barr named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

1986 – Michael O’Neill named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

1987 – William C. McCormick, Ph.D., becomes dean.

The Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics degree is approved by UH Board of Regents and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

W. Harold Pieratt ('51) named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

1988 – Earl W. (Bill) Bradley named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

1989 - Martha Atkinson named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.
