2000 – UHCOP becomes founding member of the student-run multidisciplinary H.O.M.E.S. Clinic providing pharmacy and medical care services to Houston’s homeless population.

UHCOP students and faculty volunteer at the Humble Health Fair, an annual service learning activity offering wellness screenings, immunizations and education to thousands of senior citizens over the course of the next decade.

2003 – Student Alex C. Varkey elected National President-elect of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Students of Pharmacy.

2004 – Student Michelle Hamilton becomes college's APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Competition Champion.

Then-Texas State Representative Charles L. Hopson named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

2005 – UHCOP becomes first college in nation to win back-to-back APhA-ASP National Patient Counseling Championships, with student Dana Hausmann's clinching the consecutive national title.

Faculty member/administrator Thomas L. Lemke retires after 35 years of teaching, research and service to the college.

Benjamin Fry named UHCOP Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

2006 – UHCOP launches Pharm.D./M.S. in Pharmacy Administration dual degree program.

John J. Lovoi Sr. and Madhu Chintala named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year co-recipients.

2007 – UHCOP establishes the Institute of Community Health to focus on improving the health of the local community through research, teaching and service in the areas of health outcomes and public health

Lynn Simpson receives American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists' Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award.

Jason Lovero elected to American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists National Executive Committee.

UHCOP and St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital partner on a Pharmacy Fellowship in Infectious Diseases.

Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration (now Pharmaceutical Sciences-Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy Concentration) is approved by the UH Board of Regents and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic/Kelsey Research Foundation and UHCOP collaboration in the Secondary Prevention Lipid Clinic recognized as Outstanding Program in Cardiovascular Health Promotion Awards.

Then-Texas State Representative Charles L. Hopson serves as Class of 2007 Commencement Speaker.

Former Dean Mustafa F. Lokhandwala (Ph.D. '75) is appointed interim dean of the college.

Ed Horton installed as 2007-08 President of the Texas Pharmacy Association.

2009 – F. Lamar Pritchard, Ph.D., R.Ph., appointed UHCOP Dean following approval by the UH Board of Regents.

Faculty member Richard A. Bond (Ph.D. '88, '83) receives U.S. patent for "the use of β-adrenergic inverse agonists to provide a new and highly efficient way of treating a number of pulmonary airway diseases, including asthma, emphysema, and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases."

UHCOP launches a two-year M.S. in Pharmacy Administration/PGY2-PGY2 residency program in Health-System Administration program in collaboration with five fellow Texas Medical Center institutions.

Faculty member Diana S-L. Chow, Ph.D., and alumnus Harshal P. Bhagwatar, Ph.D. ('95), named co-recipients of the 2009 Inventor of the Year Award by the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association for their work developing transplantation drug Busulfan (IV Busulfex^®), which results in a 10-fold reduction in the mortality post-transplantation patients and becomes of the most profitable patents in royalty revenues for UH.

UHCOP students and faculty help provide more than 9,000 H1N1 and 3,000 seasonal flu immunizations to Houston-area residents in collaboration with Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services.
