PCAT FAQs

PCAT...What is it?...and more answers

The PCAT test was discontinued in January 2024, and is no longer offered. It is optional for applications submitted for the 2025 cycle.

The PCAT Examination (Pharmacy College Admissions Test) is similar to an MCAT, SAT, ACT or other entrance examinations. This exam consists of several basic areas: Biological Processes, Chemical Processes, Quantitative Reasoning, Critical Reading and a Writing prompt.

The PCAT provides the admissions committee more information to consider during their holistic review of an applicant's record. Each score will be looked at separately.

PCAT scores more than three years old (older than 1/2022) will not be considered.

Fall 2025 applicants who opted to take the retired Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) may send their scores directly to PharmCAS.

PCAT scores sent to PharmCAS will be matched to your PharmCAS record for us to review once your PharmCAS record is verified. Select PharmCAS Code 104 to report PCAT scores directly to PharmCAS.

The PCAT is optional for all U.S. pharmacy schools.
